Remembering Marge Gearhart
November 16: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Linda Kurzik a quilter and member of Red Rose Quilt Guild for over 37 years will be our guest speaker. Linda had the privilege of learning to quilt from Marge Gearhart, a founding charter member. Marge was a charter member of Red Rose Quilt Guild that began in 1985. For over 20 years Marge held many positions in Red Rose Quilters. She helped build RRQG to what it is today through her hard work and dedication. She was also a teacher of quilting and taught her famous jacket class for many years in Lancaster.
Prior to Marge’s passing, Linda’s husband, a professional photographer, willingly photographed Marge’s quilts that were in her home packed away in many chests. Linda will be share a slide show of Marge’s quilts and show about 15 quilts.
Like most of us, Marge was an avid collector of fabrics and had a very large stash. Linda has bundles of fabric that she will be donating to our guild to make charity quilts as a means of honoring Marge.
The Community Education Chairperson, Connie Holland, acts as a liaison between the Guild and the public for the promotion of the art of quilt making. Upon request, she arranges to show quilts and related items to community groups (nursing homes, etc) that are interested in seeing them. Donations from the community group are gladly accepted.
For more information, please contact Connie Holland at firstname.lastname@example.org.
