The York Quilters’ Guild Welcomes New Members!

Guild meetings are on the third Thursday of every month at 7:00pm, located at Zion United Methodist Church.

The York Quilters’ Guild welcomes everyone who is interested in quilts. All are welcome, whether your experience level is beginner (you never quilted, but would like to learn more or you just enjoy quilts), intermediate (you have quilted, but would like to improve), or expert (you’re an accomplished quilter who may be willing to share that expertise with others).

Come to a meeting as a guest and see if you would like to join our quilting community. A visit is free, unless there is a paid guest speaker, and then we ask for a $5 donation. You’ll find more information about the Guild under tabs at the top of the website.

If you decide to join, annual dues are $30 if paid by the January 2019 meeting, $35 if paid later. (Members joining
for the first time after July 1 pay $15 for the rest of the year.) Exceptions to the Third Thursday dates are April 25, July 25, Dec. 5 (no meeting in November)

Check here for weather cancellations.

March 19 Meeting Cancelled

March Meeting Cancelled

Thursday, March 19, 2020

Due to the concerns about the health of our Guild Members, the March meeting has been cancelled. We will reschedule this fun activity when things are back to normal.
Hexies are sweeping the quilting world. Also known as English Paper Piecing, the technique is a great “take along” project, allows precise piecing, and is a great stress reducer.
Join your fellow Guild members for a productive social meeting on March 19 to further explore the technique as you get an opportunity to work on a project, get help with techniques, and learn about Millefiori quilts– all while having a time to socialize and get to know your fellow Guild members.
What to expect:
— A take along handout with techniques, tips and resources, including tips for getting started and an introduction to the beautiful Millefiori quilts.
–An opportunity to work on an existing project or get input from other quilters about starting EPP.
–If you’re new to the craze, there will be kits for you to make a border or motif for a tea towel or place mat
–Not your thing? Bring your knitting, other hand work, or just use the opportunity to join your friends for an evening of witty repartee and good cheer.
What to bring:
Your own project if you have one
Needles, neutral threat, scissors and (if you choose) your own fabric. (We will have some fabric available). Note: needle choice is a personal thing, but you may want a sturdy needle if you want to thread baste, and a finer needle (such as a fine quilting needle or a milliner needle) for sewing the pieces together.

Upcoming Event

Celebration of Quilts 2020: May 29/30, 2020

Details Coming Soon

It is with much sadness, that at this time of uncertainly of the coronavirus threat, we must cancel our upcoming Quilt Show scheduled for May 29, 30 2020. We worked very on the show and are sad to make this decision. Public health is the most important. We will reschedule, when we feel it would be a safe time to do so.

Please help and spread the word to any family and friends. Thank you for your understanding.
